The '09 Cubs pitched a three pitcher shutout. The play of the deadball era stymied the new era Mariners. Lots of hit and run and small ball...mixed with great pitching.
Game 2
Cubs 6 Mariners 0
Overall pitched a complete game 5 hit shutout with 10 Ks. The Mariners extended their scoreless streak to 18 innings. Evers had two doubles and two RBIs to lead the Cubbies.
Game 3
Cubs 2 Mariners 0
Ed Reulbach pitched a complete game 7 hit shutout. The cubs held the Mariners scoreless for 27 innings. Evers had three SB and two hits. Frank Chance chipped in with a pair of hits as well
