Shocker vs Leiter
Mets 6, Browns 3
A 4 run home half of the 6th inning erased a 3-2 Brownie lead. Mike Piaza started it off with a seeing eyed single between the 3-4 hole. John Olerud (3-3) and Robin Ventura walked to load the bases, then Piazza scored on a balk to tie it at 3 apiece. Benny Agbayani singled up the middle to score Olerud and give New York a 1 run lead. Rey Ordonez’ squeeze bunt back to the pitcher was just enough to score the slow footed Ventura. Rickey Henderson’s (4-5, 2RBI) opposite field single plated Agbayani and the Amazin’s were up 6-3. No further scoring as the Met pen trotted out 4 relievers who allowed just 2 hits in 3 innings. Al Leiter got the win (6IP / 3ER) to go 2-0 in the tournament.
